Closing Workshop on Species of Community Interest

After an intensive work along the first year of the project implementation, the Reference Lists of Species of Community Interest for the three biogeographical regions of Turkey (Anatolia, Black Sea and Mediterranean) are ready for their presentation to the scientific community. The presentation and discussion of the Lists will be done during a workshop in Konya with the participation of 72 representatives of the scientific community and the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. The Reference Lists of Species are the necessary basis for starting the process of selection and designation of Natura 2000 sites as well as for the amendment of the Annex II in the Habitats Directive during the accession process of Turkey to the EU.

Fourteen experts from both Turkey and the UE have contributed to the creation of the Reference Lists.
